Gul Kirat Panag is a former beauty queen, who competed in the Miss Universe pageant and a Bollywood actress.
Gul Kirat Panag was born on January 3rd 1977 in Chandigarh. She comes from a family with an Army background and therefore her education was from various parts of India and abroad. Her father is Lieutenant General H.S Panag, an Army Commander, Central Command.
She began her schooling at Sangrur in Punjab and has changed more than fourteen schools. She has studied at The Lawrence School, Lovedale, Kendriya Vidyalayas(Chandigarh, Mhow, Leh and Wellington, Tamil Nadu), International School Of Lusaka and Zambia among others. From Punjabi University Patiala she got graduated in Mathematics and finished her Masters in Political Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
She was advised by one of the Bombay photographer, Prakash Jha, to shed some weight. Taking the advice seriously she started with exercise, jogging, body toning and diet control and was paid for her efforts.
Gul Panag won the Femina Miss India crown in 1999 and before that she also won the Colgate Miss Beautiful Smile contest in Chennai. She was among the top ten contestants in the Miss Universe competition.
She started her film career in 2003 with Dhoop and Jurm in 2005 and worked in a TV series Kashmeer. In 2006 Nagesh Kukunoor film, Dor, where Gul played the role of Zeenat Fatima, brought her popularity.
In 2007 she acted in Manorama Six Feet Under, Hello; Summer 2007 in 2008 and in 2009 Gul appeared in a rectangular love story, Straight. She was seen on the cover page for the Maxim (magazine) in 2008.Ã?Â
